Come to Me

2-Sebastian Bonnet and Matt Phillipe (Pillow Talk 3, 2006)

As our series of 20 Fan Favorite Bel Ami scenes draws to a close in the next weeks, we have two more gifts of erotic beauty left to bestow:

§

A breath of romantic feeling has been infused deep inside Bel Ami’s collective genome since the studio’s inception. And what better film series to help typify that than the scenes that would help comprise the Pillow Talk DVD series. In between all the moments of unbridled passion came moments of sheer romantic, erotic beauty. A pure example of this would be the passionately romantic scene between Sebastian Bonnet and Matt Phillipe. This one unanimously topped many favorites lists amongst BelAmiOnline’s forum fan/member base and for an astoundingly good reason: all of us wished we were Matt Phillipe, to be lovingly surprised by his lover, Sebastian Bonnet by giving him such a wonderful heartfelt gift: an outside, secluded ‘bridal suite’. I don’t want to spoil this moment further by a description which would never be able to do this scene the lovely justice it so richly deserves. Bel Ami’s films are filled with moments like this one, ones that will undoubtedly tug at the heart while at the same time they tug at the libido. This scene has tugged at both for all of Sebby’s and Matt’s fans. We value this one as special and beautiful above the rest. The scene’s magic rests squarely with them, for it’s through them, we get to relive a little of our own romantic pasts. It is in turns, passionate, witty and also romantically beautiful.

I did a reedit of this one once before, a little longer than the one I do here, seeing I wanted to do slightly different edits for some of these scenes in this series. Although at the time I did it, I did like it on some level but the musical choices for the earlier edit just didn’t feel right. They didn’t fit the true romantic and idyllic elements that the scene richly displays. Being an artist who is never quite satisfied with her work, I knew I wanted to redo this one with a different musical choice, in the hope that it would evoke a different feeling in those viewing it. It would take some doing, but while on the hunt on You Tube for some musical inspiration, I came across a track by one of my favorite electronica composers, Vangelis. The track, Come To Me, taken from an album whose title alludes me just now, was absolutely perfect for the mood I wanted to project for this scene. It’s a mix of soft Celtic harps and keyboards with a beautiful female vocal to add to the romance of the piece. What a find! I never heard this one before and I have much of Vangelis’ music in my library of various kinds. At the time I found this one I wasn’t sure which couple to give this one to. Until I thought of this scene and one rainy afternoon I ‘played’ it for them while watching the scene in its entirety, advancing through it at various points to see which moments I could put with it. It was a painstaking process, taking many days and stops and starts and re-dos. What you will see is the final result. After all the work I put into it I’m completely happy with this one now. I can watch it and get a little tear in the corner of my eye. And I still get that way when I watch this one in its full beautiful, lush glory. I thank Seb and Matt continually for this one. For judging by how much it’s been loved and remembered by fans the world over, they’ve done their best work here.
