In Action Gallery with Jack Harrer and Claude Sorel Part 2

There are occasions when I certainly feel the pain of the guys in post production, trying to decide which images to place in a gallery set to be posted on the Bel Ami Online site. And when you’re someone like Luke who takes hundreds of still pictures during filming of a scene, making those ‘executive’ decisions can be very difficult. You have a desire within you to share everything, every moment captured in still frame. I myself run into these same pondering decisions when I’m putting together a gallery set for a project or even a smaller gallery for a normal posting. You want to include everything. But you absolutely can’t. And this places you in a most difficult position as an artist. Share just enough to wet the audience’s appetite, so they go and search out for more. The problem gets even more difficult, compounded with interest, when every image is special; every image has a story to tell, where every image represents a lovely erotic moment suspended in time. And that was the problem I ran into when it came time to work on these galleries.

With close inspection, I noticed certain things, picked up on familiar themes that have been very carefully and seamlessly woven into every single one of Bel Ami’s films and scenes over the years. Playful voyeurism became a mutual exercise in sexual exploration. You catch your friend in a private moment and with a yearning ache in your heart (as well as your loins) you want nothing better than to join in in that most intimate of all connections.

This image tells its tale in very subtle tones and it’s a moment that harkens back to Bel Ami of Old. Watching an erotic scene is the ultimate in voyeuristic exercise. We see what our friend sees, connect with the scenario on the level of the viewer, yet what we really want is to participate. Nothing wrong with that. Can you think back to a similar situation in your youth? Voyeurism was a familiar theme in many of Bel Ami’s films and as it’s shown here, it’s still marvelous to see.

To call Luke industrious, while he collected these images of Jack and Claude during the filming of their scene for the new Kinky Angels series, would be doing him an injustice and making an even bigger understatement. He’s an impassioned artist who not only knows the elements that make up a great scene, he also knows what moments to capture in still frame to create stunning erotic art. His wealth of experience in front of the camera gave him an opportunity to learn from the best in the business and combining this knowledge with his own vision, he has created a photographic style uniquely his own. One of the most exciting things from a fan’s perspective is to see a new artist develop over time, as I’ve had the pleasure of watching and ‘studying’ Luke’s work as it progressed. I can say with all things aside Luke has emerged as one of Bel Ami’s premier film-makers and photographers, to match Lukas Ridgeston, Johan Paulik, Marty Stevens and even George Duroy himself.
