Requiem For A Summer Dream

Here it is at long last, the last of my summer songs. The title of this post is a slight bastardization of the title of one of my favorite films of the last five years, Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem for a Dream. And this too, is a requiem of sorts. In my own special way, I’m biding summer a fond farewell. I’m not going to be able to spend as much time with you all as I would like. But I’m going to do my best. This looks to be a very intense semester, seeing as I’m vastly approaching the end of my schooling. So, as I get more involved with my studies, you’ll see my postings here to be sparser than usual. I don’t want you to fear. I’ll fit a post into my schedule somehow. 🙂 It will give me time as well, to continue to collect, to watch, to plan postings. From my understanding, Bel Ami is kicking into their prime filming schedule this fall and with the kick off of their new website in the coming months, it looks to be a very exciting time for them and for all of us, especially. Soon, as I find out any more news I’ll make sure to post here. I’ll post another update for the blog in a day or two. With the GAYVN’s quickly approaching at the end of the month, I plan two very special posts in honor of a couple of the nominees, and they’re both going to be a surprise.

I took a walk through everything I’ve posted so far, checked over every Bel Ami film I had paid tribute. I realized to my horror a classic had been missed or given the very short shrift. Very meanie of me. So, sorry, I didn’t mean to. This one is a classic, yet seemingly underappreciated. I’m speaking about Lucky Lukas (1998). I practically ignored this one…my bad. Not anymore. My last summer song is honoring this very fun little film. This proved to be a tough decision, but the music selections for this one should really come as no big surprise if you’ve been paying attention to my selections of music in my earlier posts. *wink* Layer by layer, video by video, I’m reveling more and more of the complex onion that is my musical soul. For this video clip I chose two by The Cure again: the moody and ominous, A Forest, taken from one of the band’s earlier albums, Seventeen Seconds, and the joyful, classic, Friday I’m In Love, taken from their album, Wish. I loved watching Lukas and Ion together…so playful and fun. This one was pure joy.
